Wisconsin’s Attorney General has the green light to join a lawsuit challenging federal health care reforms.

Governor Scott Walker has authorized Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to enter Wisconsin into the fight against the health care bill signed by Congress last spring. The move allows Wisconsin to join 20 other states in challenging the Constitutionality of the legislation.

Van Hollen had originally made the request last year, but Democratic Governor Jim Doyle and the Democratically-controlled Legislature would not allow him to intervene on behalf of the state. The Attorney General needs authorization from the Governor or Legislature to join such lawsuits.

Walker authorized Van Hollen to act shortly after he was sworn in to office Monday afternoon.
