The 60th annual Farm Technology Days runs through Thursday in northwest Wisconsin. Alex and Mary Olson are hosting the event at their Breezy Hill Farm near Dallas in Barron County. Dairy is the focus this year. “We milk 500 cows, have about 420 replacement heifers, and crop just a little over 700 acres of corn and alfalfa that’s all put up for silage.”
Over 600 exhibitors feature the latest in farm technology and practices. Guests can expect field demonstrations, speakers, displays, and entertainment.
Alex explains they decided to host Farm Technology Days after reading an article in 2010 indicating the show would be located in Barron County in 2013. “One night Mary said to me, she says ‘well are we gonna throw an application in or not?’ and I said ‘well we might as well, we’ll never get it anyway.'”
Mary says the decision to host the event has given them a “fabulous” experience. She says the positive feedback has been unbelievable, they couldn’t be more honored to host the event. Farm Technology Days moves to different locations around the state, highlighting a different type of farming each year.
Approximately 40,000 to 60,000 people attend the event each year.
