Interest in Wisconsin a wolf hunt continues to grow, with more than 10,000 people no applying for a chance to take part in the state’s first season.
The Department of Natural Resources will be taking applications through the end of this month, after which it will award about 2,000 licenses using a lottery system. Those who fail to get a license this time will earn a preference point that can be applied toward a future application.
The season running from October 15th through the end of February will have a harvest limit of just 201 wolves.
Several animal rights groups have filed a lawsuit seeking to block the wolf hunt. The case goes before a Dane County judge at the end of the month for an injunction hearing.
