Two people filed formal complaints against Calumet County’s district attorney Wednesday, in hopes of removing Ken Kratz from office. Governor Doyle says he can now move forward with the process.
Kratz is under fire for a series of text messages that he sent to a 26-year-old domestic abuse victim. Three other women have come forward in the last few days, claiming they also received inappropriate texts.
Kathy Gloff of Chilton is one of the people who filed a notarized complaint. She says Kratz has done irreparable harm to the DA’s office and as long as he’s there, domestic abuse victims will be hesitant to come forward.
Gloff is a pastor at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, and she volunteers at Harbor House. She says that helped her decide to file the complaint.
Doyle is appointing former Kenosha County district attorney Bob Jambois to investigate the claims, and hold a public hearing. The state attorney general’s office is prosecuting the case. Kratz will be able to speak during the public hearing.
