Dom CapersA couple of months ago, Green Bay Packers pro bowl corner Charles Woodson was so excited about the teams new defensive scheme that he was talking about the Packers being a Super Bowl contender.  But after last night’s zero-sack performance in a 30-23 loss to the rival Vikings, Woodson wants to know where the heat is.

In the preseason, defensive coordinator Dom Capers (pictured) used Woodson to blitz from all over the field.  Last night, Woodson had just a couple of opportunities and he’s wondering why Capers didn’t blitz Brett Favre more.

The Packers have just 5-sacks in the first four games this season and just 1 in the last two games.  The thing that makes that statistic look even worse is that Brett Favre was sacked 9-times in the previous 3-games.

The Packers defensive problems go even further.  Several blown coverage assignments led to big plays for the Vikings.  Woodson didn’t point the blame for this in Capers direction, rather GM Ted Thompson.

Four games into the NFL season and the Packers are pointing fingers and placing blame.  They’re 2-2 and there’s a lot of time left.  That can go both ways though.  Mike McCarthy has to get on top of this quickly, make the corrections and have his team ready to play on Oct. 18th against the Lions at Lambeau Field.
