Waupaca County detectives are investigating an apparent attempted robbery at a bank in King, just outside Waupaca. Detective Captain Don Conat says their office received a 911 call from Farmer’s State Bank King branch, at 4:46 Wednesday afternoon.

Bank employees say a man had entered the band and was putting on a mask. The man was described as about 5-feet 6 inches tall with a stocky build, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a green or grayish trench coat. As he was putting on the mask, a teller shouted at him, and the man panicked and ran from the bank on foot. He did not get any money.

Officers found what appears to be the subject’s clothing and mask in the area. They are hopeful the items may contain DNA which could help identify the suspect. Their investigation continues.
