A Wisconsin pro-life group praises a stem cell research advance, and suggests pressure from pro-life groups may have been a driving force behind the research. Barbara Lyons with Wisconsin Right to Life says the breakthrough by stem cell researchers in Wisconsin bodes well for future applications, and may clear up most of the ethical concerns that arose from harvesting the cells from human embryos, by eliminating the need for cloning. University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers have succeeded in reprogramming skin cells to behave like embryonic stem cells. Lyons says pro-life groups, and President George Bush, deserve some of the credit, for pushing researchers to this scientific and ethical breakthrough.
