University of Wisconsin assistant golf coach Robbie Ziegler retained the third-round lead at the 113th Wisconsin State Amateur golf championship, despite struggling in the windy conditions on Wednesday at the Ozaukee Country Club.

Ziegler shot a 7-over-par 77 and thought he’d lose his lead.  But when the day ended, Ziegler still had a three-shot lead.

The 24-year old Ziegler was 4-over after 54 holes and will try to become a wire-to-wire winner today.

Tyler Schmude of Horicon and Mitchell Johnson of Middleton shot 74’s and are tied for second, 3-shots back.  Cousins Alex and Zach Gaugert are tied for fourth, 4-shots off the lead.
