Anti-war activists are passing through Wisconsin as part of a 450-mile walk, on their way to the Republican National Convention in Saint Paul. The "Witness Against War" march began this week in Chicago, the site of the infamous 1968 Democratic National Convention. Co-Coordinator Lauren Cannon says the locations were chosen to represent "both parties are accountable to bring an end to this war."

The walkers will be the Badger State for the next several weeks and plan to conclude their 31 day trek into St. Paul on August 31st.

The group is choosing to walk, rather than drive, to show solidarity for Iraqi refugees living conditions, though she admits their suffering is minor compared to many of the Iraqis' conditions. She also says the voyage on foot is a reminder of the trillions that could be better spent on improving transportation infrastructure at home, such as bridge and road repair.
