Wisconsin women’s goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens turned away all 16 shots she faced in the Badgers 4-0 win over Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon.  That was the school record-setting sixth straight shutout for Wisconsin (8-0).

The effort also tied the all-time best scoreless streak in Western Collegiate Hockey Association history.

Sarah Nurse scored Wisconsin’s first goal in the first period and that would be all the scoring the team would need.

Baylee Wellhausen scored her first goal of the season and senior Erika Sowchuk scored a pair of goals for the Badgers.

Wisconsin outshot the Beavers 46-16.  The Badgers will travel to Minnesota State-Mankato next Friday.

Badger men fall at Ferris State

The Badger men’s winless streak has now reached 14 games dating back to last year.  Wisconsin fell to Ferris State 2-1 on Saturday night, after a 5-5 tie on Friday.

Trailing 1-0 entering the third period, Wisconsin freshman Luke Kunin tied the score less than 30 seconds into the period.  But Ferris state would answer 19 seconds later to end the scoring.

Freshman goaltender Matt Jurusik made 37 saves in the loss as the Badgers fell to 0-3-3.

Wisconsin will host Arizona State on Friday night.
