University of Wisconsin right winger Patrick Johnson, who helped his team to three of four points in a conference series agaisnt two-time defending WCHA champion Minnesota last weekend, has been named the WCHA's Rookie of the Week for Jan. 29-Feb. 4.

The Badger freshman produced four points in the series.

In a 3-1 victory last Friday night at the Kohl Center, Johnson drew an assist on teammate Ben Street's third period goal.  Then, in a 2-2 overtime tie last Saturday evening, Johnson factored in on both of his team's goals as the Badgers battled back from a 2-0 second period deficit.  He scored a powerplay goal at 11:32 of period two to bring his club to within one and then assisted on teammate Aaron Bendrickson's game-tying goal at 12:36 of the third.

The son of former NHL, U.S. Olympic and University of Wisconsin great and current women's hockey coach Mark Johnson, Patrick is fourth among his teammates and fourth among all WCHA rookies in scoring overall this season with 17 points (6g, 11a) while playing in all 26 games to date.
