Brewers logoBlaine Boyer walked in the winning run in the 11th inning on Friday night as the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2.

Boyer had allowed singles to Paul Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb to start the 11th.  After striking out Yasmany Tomas, Arizona’s David Peralta reached to load the bases when Brewers rookie shortstop Orlando Arcia bobbled his chopper up the middle in an attempt to start a 6-4-3 double play.

Boyer appeared to be squeezed  by home-plate umpire Jeff Kellogg on the pitch.  Boyer voiced his displeasure with the call as he and Kellogg walked off the field but wasn’t pointing fingers afterwards.

Tomas homered twice for Arizona in the victory.

The Brewers scored their first run when Arcia collected his first big league hit, a rbi single to right field with two outs.  The second run came in the  7th when pinch hitter Keon Broxton clubbed a solo home run.

Broxton is hitting .292 with two homers and five RBI since being recalled from Class AAA Colorado Springs on July 25.

Game two of the series is tonight.
