The Milwaukee Brewers earned a split in their four-game series with New York, beating the Mets 5-3 on Sunday at Miller Park.

After allowing a hit in the first inning, Zach Davies retired 17-straight hitters, allowing just one un-earned run over six innings for his third win in June and 5th straight overall.  Davies is 5-3 on the season.

In the month of June, Davies improved to 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA.

Keon Broxton gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a run scoring single.  It is Broxton’s first career run batted in.

Davies then laid down a bunt and a throwing error allowed both Broxton and Scooter Gennett to score.

Davies improved to 8-5 with a 3.82 ERA in 17 big league starts.

The Mets finally scored in the seventh against Blaine Boyer, then added a pair of runs in the 8th.

Jeremy Jeffress pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 18th save in 19 opportunities.

The Brewers open a nine-game road trip tonight in San Francisco.  Chase Anderson starts for the Brewers.  Matt Garza, who has joined the rotation, will start on Tuesday night.
