A Wisconsin journalist says “enough” with the 9/11 conspiracies.
Five years later, 9/11 conspiracy theories seem to grow like mushrooms. Matt Rothschild, editor of the Madison-based Progressive magazine, addresses the conspiracies in the magazine's latest issue. His conclusion? The conspiracies are “based in fantasy and delusion.” While polls indicate a significant number of Americans give at least some credence to some of the conspiracy theories, Rotschild suggests there are some logical reasons why that's so — the Bush administration's seizure on the 9/11 attacks to take the country to war in Iraq.
Rothschild says he thinks “it's important to air this stuff out,” and defends the academic freedom of UW lecturer and conspiracy theorist Kevin Barrett, but he's examined the theories, and his conclusion is that they don't hold up.
