Packers logoFormer Green Bay Packers’ corner Mike C. McCoy passed away after suffering from dementia.  The 62-year-old McCoy played for eight NFL seasons, all with Green Bay after he was drafted in the third round in 1976.

McCoy started at corner for seven years and had 13 interceptions and five fumble recoveries during his career.

The Packers only had two winning seasons during McCoy’s tenure, in 1978 and 1982.  A leg injury forced him to retire in 1983.

His former teammate James Lofton says McCoy’s health deteriorated over the past three weeks, and he moved into an assisted living facility in Thornton, Colorado about four years ago because it became too risky to live at home.
