The Wisconsin Badgers played one of its worst games of the season on Friday and this time they had no margin for error in a 6-1 season ending loss to Massachusetts-Lowell in the Northeast Regional semifinals.

All of the good things the Badgers did to get them into the dance, they left in Madison.  The speedy River Hawks had 2 on 1’s and 3 on 2’s all day.  The end result was Wisconsin coughing up more goals in 1-game than they had the last three in wins over Minnesota State, St. Cloud State and Colorado College to win the WCHA playoff title.

Wisconsin entered the game on a 21-5-5 run that had them playing some of the best hockey in the country.  Unfortunately that great run came to an end, along with the Badgers season at 22-13-7.

Nobody imagined the Badgers starting 1-7-2, nor did many think they could put together the run that followed.  Certainly the thought of losing their NCAA Regional Semifinal game to the 3rd ranked team in the country was a possibility, but the way that it happened is a huge disappointment.
