New concerns about a potentially big state budget deficit.

An “I told you so” from state Representative Frank Lasee. The Green Bay-area Republican warned that there was too much new spending in the $57 billion budget lawmakers adopted last fall over his objection. Now, the state is facing a shortfall of $400 million or more.

Lasee fears Governor Doyle isn't serious about spending cuts, and that the administration will use accounting tricks to balance the budget on paper.
