The state Office of Lawyer Regulation wants the law license of a former Calumet County District Attorney revoked for six months.

Kenneth Kratz resigned in 2010 after several women came forward accusing him of inappropriate sexual advances, including one woman who alleged Kratz sent sexually explicit text messages to her while he was prosecuting a man for assaulting her.

The complaint filed with the state State Supreme Court Wednesday by OLR details eleven counts of alleged attorney misconduct by Kratz, including sexual harassment and having an “offensive personality.”

Allegations against Kratz built up after dozens of text messages were released in which he tried to initiate a relationship with a domestic abuse victim. Messages included “Are you the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA…the riskier the better?” and “You may be the tall, young, hot nymph, but I am the prize!”

The release of the messages prompted several other women to come forward alleging inappropriate sexual advances by Kratz. Several state and local officials began calling on Kratz to resign and then-Governor Jim Doyle even considered taking steps to remove him from office. Kratz eventually resigned in October of last year.

The state Department of Justice investigated the allegations against Kratz, but decided not to file criminal charges.
