Police in a southwest Wisconsin community say a student is in custody now, after the principal of a small high school was shot. Officials say 49-year-old John Klang was airlifted to a Madison hospital after being shot three times, at least once in the head. There has been no word on Klang's condition at this time.
The shooting took place at Weston School, which is located in the Sauk County community of Cazenovia.
Early media reports said the alleged shooter was a former student at Weston who may have been expelled, and he entered the building with multiple weapons. WTMJ Radio in Milwaukee quoted a witness as saying a school custodian grabbed a weapon from the attacker, and then the student pulled out a pistol and fired shots. The suspect did not threaten any students. No one else was hurt, and officials said the school was secured soon after the incident.

Local officials are expected to release more details this afternoon.
