Wisconsin’s attorney general is asking a federal appeals court to reinstate Wisconsin’s long stalled voter ID law.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen on Monday filed a notice of appeal with the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn federal Judge Lynn Adelman’s ruling, which found that Wisconsin’s stalled voter ID law is unconstitutional. Van Hollen is also asking Adelman to stay his decision while the appeal is underway.

Adelman blocked the law last month, finding that it puts an unfair burden on minority and poor voters…violating the Voting Rights Act and the U.S. Constitution.

Even if the federal decision was struck down, the state Supreme Court still has a pair of cases under review that have kept the law on hold as well.
