Let me know when Brett Favre is done feeling sorry for himself.  Favre, who is the key figure in the Packers organization, has decided he doesn't want to talk with the media as often as in the past.  He's tired of retirement questions, tired of questions that are negative.  I understand, but I don't condone his actions.

It's not like Favre went overboard in the past.  He met with the media once a week in Green Bay and then after games.  Beyond that, the media has respected his privacy and left him alone.  How tough can it be?  But Favre is dealing with what ever issues he has by now going to a bi-weekly schedule.

The Packers were 4-12 last season and things aren't expected to be appreciably better this season.  Favre is coming off a 29 interception campaign.  For goodness sakes.  What kind of questions does he expect.

For 14 years, Favre has been handed everything on a platter.  Despite his drug problem, his early career drinking and partying and the other instances where poor judgment was on display, the media and the fans completely supported him.  They helped promote his charitable organization through promotion. Many people, fans and media alike put this man on a pedestal.  But now, after a bad year for the entire team, everything seems to be caving in on Favre's world.

Despite a bad year last year, Favre still has plenty of support in his corner.  I wonder how much of that support will remain if he doesn't allow the media to convey his message to the fans.  It's the fans that lose out, because they won't be able to see or hear from Favre nearly as often.  I know other teammates don't face the retirement questions, but they do have to deal with the prospect of what could be another tough year and the media questions that go along with it.  Are they running and hiding?  Come on Brett.  You are protected from media obligations more then anybody on the team.  Suck it up.  You may not realize it, but you're only making things worse instead of better.
