Home sales in Wisconsin were down 3.7 percent in January, compared to the same month a year ago.

The Wisconsin Realtors Association says its members sold 3,250 existing homes last month, down from 3,375 in January of 2014. At the same time, the median resale price did continue to go up, climbing 6.5 percent to $135,000.

Realtors Association chairman Dan Kruse said only about five percent of all homes during a typical year are sold in January, so it’s hard to draw conclusions on whether the drop reflects an overall trend in the housing market.

Meanwhile, sales trends are uneven throughout the Badger State. The Realtors’ group said home sales jumped by 24 percent in January in central Wisconsin, while they dropped over 6.5 percent in southeast Wisconsin, and over 11.5 percent in the northeast.
