Police find a man and a woman dead in Berlin over the weekend. At last word, police were questioning the woman’s husband, who was later found with the couple’s eight-year-old daughter after an Amber Alert was issued.
Police said Justin Daniels and Melissa Tuinstra, both 28, were both shot to death late Saturday night. Tuinstra’s body was found on a sidewalk, and Daniels was found dead in a nearby apartment.
During their investigation, police officials said they became concerned about the missing child and an Amber Alert was issued early yesterday. Officers later found the girl safe with 33-year-old Nicholas Tuinstra, who was being questioned as a person-of-interest in the case. He was identified in the Amber Alert, which was canceled just before 6 am Sunday. Tuinstra and the girl were found in neighboring Marquette County. The youngster is staying with grandparents for now.
Media reports said Nicholas and Melissa Tuinstra filed for divorce last week. Daniels’ relationship was not immediately disclosed.
Officers were still investigating, and were executing search warrants yesterday, while almost a dozen stores nearby were closed to protect the crime scene. Berlin is in Green Lake County, west of Oshkosh.
