Wisconsin Infant Dies Amid Measles Outbreak (UNDATED)
An infant has died as a result of Wisconsin’s ongoing measles outbreak, marking the state’s first measles-related death since 1990. State health officials say the child was too young to be vaccinated. Department of Health Services Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ryan Westergaard says the death is a tragic reminder of how serious measles can be and underscores the importance of maintaining high vaccination rates to protect vulnerable people. The outbreak is the largest Wisconsin has seen in decades, with 431 confirmed cases and nine hospitalizations reported this year, most of them in southwestern Wisconsin.
MU Poll’s Franklin on Trump factor & Crowley win margin (UNDATED)
After weeks of Donald Trump asking them to vote as if he was on the ballot, voters in Wisconsin and elsewhere apparently did just that on Election Day. Marquette Law School Poll Director Charles Franklin said this is very much an electorate that is dissatisfied with President Trump, dissatisfied with the Republican Party, and very concerned with the state of the economy, the cost of living and the war with Iran. The economy and cost of living seem to dominate. Franklin says the Marquette Poll performed well. Final pre-election numbers had Democrat David Crowley with a seven point lead in the governor’s race, and unofficial vote totals give the Milwaukee County Executive an eight-point-two percent lead over Republican Tom Tiffany. Franklin says the last time a candidate for governor had a larger margin was likely Tommy Thompson in 1998.
