City Council fires interim Independent Police Monitor (MADISON)
Madison’s newly fired interim Independent Police Monitor finds herself in familiar territory. Before she was hired in Madison, Aeiramique Glass served in a high-profile role as the acting chief of police accountability in Baltimore. She was fired in June of 2024 after what’s been described as a “tumultuous” tenure. Glass served in that role for less than a year. She was appointed to the interim role in Madison last November. Her relationship with city officials hit a fever pitch in the aftermath of the fatal police shooting of Corey Ruiz over the summer. Glass was involved in an altercation with police as they disassembled a protest encampment and made a threat (quote) “I will burn this city down. I will burn it down.” Glass, fired by the city council on 14-6 vote early Wednesday morning, has filed suit against the city of Baltimore and has threatened to do the same in Madison.
