State Supreme Court restores Kenosha County DA’s license (MADISON)
Kenosha County’s district attorney has his law license restored. The state Supreme Court’s Office of Lawyer Regulation reinstated D A Xavier Solis’ law license less than 24 hours after suspending it for alleged failure to assist in an investigation. It’s still unclear who O L R is investigating or what role Solis’ cooperation played. Solis was sanctioned by a Kenosha County judge earlier this year for using AI generated court filings that made up fake cases for citation.
Lakeshore College offering special accelerated CDL program (MANITOWOC)
A Wisconsin Technical College is pushing to get more truck drivers on the road. Lakeshore College is promoting an accelerated eight week course to train new commercial drivers. More over-the-road drivers are aging out of the industry and the US will need to replace 250-thousand drivers every year over the next decade. All workers safe after fire are Milwaukee power plant (MILWAUKEE)
Everyone escaped safely from a Milwaukee power plant fire. The fire started early Tuesday morning on the roof of the We Energies Valley Power Plant. Milwaukee fire crews say everyone was able to get out safely on their own and the fire never entered the building itself. Early reports show materials on the roof caught fire, but there’s been no word on what or how the fire started. The power plant is back in operation today.
Budget blunder leads to resignation of two Winnebago County administrators (OSHKOSH)
Winnebago County Executive Gordon Hintz says changes will be implemented in the county budget process, following discovery that the 2026 tax levy filing with the state Department of Revenue was more than what the County Board approved for the year. Director of Finance Paul Kaiser and Director of Administration Jamie Rouch submitted their resignations last month, following discovery that the 2026 tax levy filing with the state Department of Revenue was more than what the County Board approved for the year. Hintz said that’s not criminal, and will be corrected through budget amendments this week and will not affect the county’s levy limit for next year.
