Healthcare Open Enrollment is here and that scammers are looking to take advantage of people entering the insurance marketplace. Lisa Schiller with the Better Business Bureau expects people are already receiving suspect messages about their coverage.
“The pitches may vary, but the same goal is always there for these scammers to get your Medicare number, to get your personal information, and to get payment information in many cases as well.”
The Better Business Bureau has already seen reports coming in to the B B B Scam Tracker.
“Most of the reports are of imposter callers or text messages, in regard to wanting to verify your information or informing you that your benefits are about to expire.”
Following those links or taking those calls will connect you to a scammer who will try to get our personal information or ask you for money. Only use trusted websites like Healthcare .Gov when signing up for insurance.
