Watch out for AI generated ads and letters in your mail. Wisconsin Consumer Protection administrator Michelle Reinen says people are getting more and more misleading messages in their junk mail thanks to computer generated images.
“We see artificial intelligence used to create images that could be related to politics, celebrity endorsements of products.”
Reinen says you should be aware that it’s becoming easier to create fake pictures of people, and that you need to carefully vet information you get in the mail. Reinen says the same message applies to advertisements for products to political mailers claiming things about particular candidates. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
