An Ebay auction preview this week somehow included one of several unique Frank Lloyd Wright designed chairs from Racine's S.C. Johnson administration building. No one at S.C. Johnson authorized it, and how the chair got to the auction block is being looked into.
Police Sergeant Bernie Kupper says an SCJ employee happened to come across the auction preview, and contacted company officials. Kupper says the company then contacted Ebay, whose security department wanted police to confirm the chair was part of an investigation.
Kupper says the chair is in control of a Chicago auction house, whose owner is cooperating, and who claims a Milwaukee antique dealer provided the chair.
The highest bid for the chair was $10,000 before it was pulled from the auction site.
