Wisconsin potato growers are keeping their “eyes” on the spuds.
Jane Larsen with Wisconsin’s Department of Ag says the return of “late blight,” which has been wiping out some tomato crops, has them concerned. So far, the infection has been showing up on just tomato plants, but it can also impact potatoes and eggplant.
The fungus produces black lesions. It’s the same disease that caused the Irish potato famine in the 1800s.
