The Racine County District Attorney’s office, based on a Sheriff’s Department investigation, has found no criminal wrongdoing with the June 5 recall election. This counters claims by Republicans, and four separate complaints.
A release through the D.A.’s office says limited information was provided for the investigation, with some of it anecdotal versus first-hand eye witness accounts.
Much of what was reported as fraud in Racine, the release says, was more appropriately categorized as rules violations that fall under the jurisdiction of the Government Accountability Board. Complaints about poll workers in the City of Racine, same-day registration procedures and electioneering, did not rise to the level of a crime.
