The federal government has approved Wisconsin’s full restoration of Family Care. It’s a program which keeps low-income disabled and elderly people out of nursing homes. The Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says in a letter that anyone who had been put on a waiting list during last year’s enrollment cap should be reimbursed for their health care costs. The letter says the waiting list violated terms of the state’s waiver. Wisconsin Health Services Secretary Dennis Smith says the department was not aware of anyone who was improperly placed on the waiting list and everyone who was eligible for services got them. Governor Scott Walker implemented the cap a year ago, and it was lifted in April.
