A Shawano man faces two counts of First Degree Intentional Homicide in the brutal shotgun slayings of a brother and sister more than three years ago. The office of Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said that 29 year-old Daniel Schmidt intentionally caused the deaths of 32 year-old Kimberly Rose and 22 year-old Leonard Marsh in Rose’s Oconto County home in May of 2009. According to the criminal complaint, the victims were killed with a .20 guage shotgun. The complaint also states that the married Schmidt had been involved in an affair with Rose.
Schmidt made an initial appearance Wednesday in Oconto County Circuit Court, where bail was set at $2 million. Schmidt’s initial appearance is scheduled to resume on September 26th.
