A suspect in a shooting incident in Stevens Point from last month is in custody in Colorado. U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement captured Kyle Engen on Thursday in Granby, Colorado. More information about the circumstances leading to the arrest have not been released.
He’s being held on a probation warrant. Local police are making arrangements to bring Engen back to Wisconsin to face charges.
A warrant for Kyle Engen had also been issued by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. Engen escaped police in Madison following a shooting on the 2700 Block of 5th Street in Stevens Point.
21-year-old Deonta Lezine was killed in the shooting. A second victim, a 20-year-old friend, was shot and wounded. That person cooperated with police after fleeing and seeking medical attention on their own in the Racine area.
Police say the shootings were drug related.
