A new report shows state support for K-12 public schools in Wisconsin saw a small increase last year.
A memo from the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau released Tuesday shows that state support for schools last year covered 62.7 percent of costs – up from 62.3 percent in 2014 and 62 percent in 2013. The Norris School District ranked highest in state support at almost 99 percent, while Washington Island had the lowest level of support at just under 20 percent.
Several factors play into the percentage of state support schools receive, including property values, poverty levels and how much aid targeted for specific needs is delivered.
