The Wisconsin Badger women’s volleyball team will go into Wednesday night’s Big Ten showdown with Minnesota as the number-1 ranked team in the country.
The Badgers are tops in women’s college volleyball in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, which came out on Monday (Oct. 10).
It’s the first time the Badgers have been ranked number-one in the AVCA poll. The previous best ranking for the Badgers was second on eight different occasions, including three weeks this season.
The Badgers (14-1 overall, 6-0 Big Ten) received 50 first place votes, while second place Nebraska picked up 14 first place votes.
The Golden Gophers, who will face the top-ranked Badgers at the UW-Field House on Wednesday night (8pm – BTN Live Stream), are ranked third. Texas and San Diego round out the top five.
Other Big Ten teams in the poll are Penn State (10), Michigan State (14), Michigan (18), Ohio State (19), Purdue (22) and Illinois (24).
