Mench delivers for Brewers over Reds

July 31, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Newly acquired outfielder Kevin Mench delivered for his new team on Sunday, driving in all four runs in the Brewers 4-3 win over Cincinnati at Miller Park. Mench delivered an rbi single and a 3-run homer before the sellout crowd of 42,976. Ben Sheets took a 5-hit shutout to the 9th before Ken Griffey delivered a 2-run homer. Derrick Turnbow came on but couldn't get the last out, with Ned Yost turning things over to newly acquired reliever Francisco Cordero. He closed the door on the Reds, recording his first save as a Brewer. It gave the Brewers 2 out of 3 in the series. Sheets struck out 10 in picking up the win. The Brewers hit the road and open a series in Denver against the Colorado Rockies tonight.
