Stocco has knee surgery, will miss a couple of weeks

August 14, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin senior quarterback John Stocco underwent a surgical procedure on his right knee on Friday at UW hospital and clinics. The procedure aimed to address a re-aggravation of an injury Stocco sustained back in 2003. Badgers coach Bret Bielema said they're hoping Stocco will be available for most, if not all their games this season. Wisconsin was 19-6 with Stocco as its starting quarterback the past two seasons. The Richfield, Minnesota, native set school records for passing yards (2,920), TD passes (21), pass completions (197) and total offensive yards (2,888) last season. Wisconsin opens the season Sept. 2 when it faces Bowling Green at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
