WIAA Division 3 State Football Championship Preview

Division 2 will have a brand new WIAA State High School Football champion in 2006.  Ashwaubenon beat Waunakee 19-0 last seasonWaupaca is making its third title game appearance.  The first two in 1994 and 2002, resulted in runner-up finishes.  The Comets earned a berth in the championship game with a 13-2 win over Lakeland in the semifinal.  They are the champions of the Valley 8 Conference.  The Comets have shutout their opponent in six games this year and have outscored opponents by a combined total of 376-132.

Greendale is making its first-ever trip to the State final.  The Panthers finished atop the standings in the South Division of the Woodland Conference this season and gained a berth in the title game by blanking Kewaskum in the semifinal, 9-0.  The Panthers have outscored their opponents by an average of 26-7 this season.
