WIAA Division 6 State Football Championship Preview

November 14, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Stratford goes for a 4-peat on Thursday (1pm) when the Tigers take on Deerfield in the  WIAA  Division 6 championship at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.  The Tigers have captured the last three Division 6 titles.  The Tigers also captured a division 5 title in 1986, making this the Tigers fifth overall appearance in a title contest.

The Champions of the Marawood Conference defeated Regis in the semifinal for the third straight year, 14-10.  They are attempting to become the only program to win four straight State Championships.

Deerfield is making its second championship game appearance.  The Demons made their only other appearance in 1985, which resulted in a second-place finish.  This year, they finished second in the Large Division of the Trailways Conference.  They defeated Fennimore 20-15 in the semifinal to advance to play at Camp Randall.
