Packers Take Speedy WR in Round 5

April 29, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Ted Thompson went with a WR that can stretch the field in Round 5 of the draft by taking Virginia Tech wide receiver David Clowney.  Clowney is a track guy that ran a 4.25 forty yard dash on an indoor track and ran a 4.4 at the scouting combine.  He only caught 34 passes for 424 yards during his senior season in 2006.  He missed one game becuase of an appendectomy.

Clowney says one of his best friends was suppose to be in one of the classes that fell victim to the shooter, but was running late and couldn't get into the building because the doors to the building were chained shut.
