Hardy's slam leads Brewers to big day

May 13, 2007 By WRN Contributor

J-J Hardy had only one hit on Saturday, but it was a big one.  Hardy clubbed his 11th homer of the season, a grand slam, to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 12-3 win over the New York Mets.

Bill Hall added three hits and Tony Gwynn Jr. scored three runs to lead the Brewers offensive attack.  The Brewers banged out 16 hits against the Mets to even the series at a game apiece.

Ben Sheets worked six innings for the win, his 3rd (3-2) of the season.  He allowed three runs on four hits.  Matt Wise worked a perfect 7th to preserve a 4-3 lead.  The Brewers then scored 5 times in the 8th and 3 more times in the 9th to break the game open.

The final game of the series is this afternoon at Shea Stadium.  Chris Capuano pitches for the Brewers.  He's off to a 5-0 start this season.
