Wisconsin Eye opens on state government

May 16, 2007 By WRN Contributor

You can now watch your state government in action.

The live C-Span style coverage of state lawmakers in action has been years in the making.

Tommy Thompson was still governor when the concept was first announced. Then the ground rules of coverage and equipment installation had to be worked out.

Wisconsin Eye's Chris Long says for now you can follow the legislature live on the Wisconsin Eye website, www.wiseye.org but both Charter and Time Warner cable have agreed to put Wisconsin Eye on their digital tier at a date to be determined.

Long says the infrastructure is in place to expand coverage to the state Supreme Court and Executive Branch in the future.

Senate majority leader Judy Robson welcomed the  Wisconsin Eye coverage saying the cameras will put the legislature's policies, debates, procedures and how they treat each other in everybody's living room. Stay tuned.
