Musser vows to restore veterans benefits

June 12, 2007 By WRN Contributor

A state lawmaker is vowing to fight a move to cut education benefits for veterans.

The state legislature's budget committee has voted to limit the amount of credits involving free tuition at universities campuses or tech colleges. … also eliminate free tuition for and limit free tuition to ten years after leaving military service.

Representative Terry Musser says that's a mistake that needs to be corrected. “I mean this is, what, two years old and already we're cutting veterans benefits. We're in the middle of a war … that's going in the wrong direction.”

Musser, who chairs the Assembly Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs, will try to restore funding for the tuition programs.
