Governor Doyle on Friday announced that Matt Frank will move from the Department of Corrections to the DNR later this year. Frank says he's honored by the Governor's trust and confidence and will work hard to advance Wisconsin's environmental priorities.
Even though he's spent the last four years overseeing Wisconsin's correctional system, Frank says he's up to the challenge of handling the DNR. The Wisconsin native also worked on environmental issues for the Attorney General, when Jim Doyle served in that position. Frank says his experience managing a large state agency and working with the legislature should also be a big help in the position.
Frank says he'll look to build on the work that's been done over the last five years when he takes over the job on September 1st. He says the state faces many important environmental issues, which he's eager to get started on.
Frank will replace outgoing DNR Secretary Scott Hassett, who will step down this fall. DOC Deputy Director Rick Raemisch has been tapped to take over for Frank.
