Gallardo extends scoreless inning streak in Brewers win

September 18, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Yovani Gallardo threw eight shutout innings, dominating Houston for the second time in two weeks and the Brewers went on to blank the Astros 6-0.

Gallardo (9-4) allowed 7 hits and struck out five, winning his 4th consecutive start.  The rookie right hander also ran his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 21 straight.

Prince Fielder singled to extend his hitting streak to 15 games and Kevin Mench homered late for the Brewers.

The win kept the Brewers 1-game behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.  The Cubs scored three times in the 9th last night to come from behind and beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-6.
