Crandon survivor to be hospitalized indefinitely

October 11, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The aunt of Crandon shooting survivor Charlie Neitzel spoke on his behalf Thursday. Linda Enright read a statement from the family of 21 year old Charlie Neitzel, the lone survivor of last weekend's tragedy in Crandon. "We love Charlie very much," said Enright. "He is a special and unique individual who has been very brave and strong through all of this. He is actually helping us cope with what has happened to him."

Enright said Charlie suffered gunshot wounds to the right leg, right arm and right shoulder. He's had three surgeries, will require more, and will remain at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield indefinitely. "Charlie is devastated," Enright said. "He is mourning the loss of many of his closest friends. He is deeply saddened by the fact that he cannot attend their funeral services."

Enright said family members hope that the media will understand that their focus needs to be on Charlie's recovery.
