New trial for babysitter

January 31, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A Dane County babysitter convicted of reckless homicide in the death of an infant will get a new trial.

The state Appeals Court ordered a new trial today for Audrey Edmunds of Waunakee, who was convicted in the death of a baby in her care. Edmunds is serving an 18 year prison term for the 1995 death of seven month old Natalie Beard. Judges say there's new research on shaken baby syndrome that warrants a new trial.
