Rock Co. sheriff responds to report

February 21, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Wisconsin National Guard points to missed opportunities in the snow storm that trapped two-thousand motorists on I-90 in Rock and Dane counties.

Rock County Sheriff Bob Spoden says the report found two major problems: a lack of coordination between state and local agencies, and a failure by top officials at the State Patrol to realize the seriousness of the situation until it was too late. Spoden says all the agencies involved need better planning for similar problems in the future.

The snow storm left 2,000 motorists stranded on I-90 from the state line to Madison.
