New jobs are good news

Not all the economic news is bad: new jobs are coming to Southwest Wisconsin. Just over a year ago Spectrum Brands, which owns the battery maker, laid off 100 workers at its plant in Fennimore. Those jobs were shifted overseas, but now, fifty new jobs are being added. Linda Parrish with the Fennimore Chamber of Commerce says Spectrum Brands officials have praised the quality of the workforce, and even after the layoffs, local officials worked with Spectrum Brands — and the laid off workers. Parrish says the addition of jobs will bring the of Fennimore plant, which draws employees from around the tri-state area, back to seven days a week, 24 hours a day production.
